Discovery
Dear Little George,
You were discovered at 4 am on April 8 (Easter), 2007. Mama had had to use the toilet for some time. She was trying to put off using the toilet until morning because she wanted to have a more accurate result on the pregnancy test. She was pretty sure she wasn't pregnant and that the symptoms she had been experiencing (incredible gas, minor cramps, sore boobies) were signs of PMS. She had also had a bad cold (without any drugs!) for almost a week so wasn't in top form. Alas at 4 am she tossed and turned and felt just a wee bit queasy and figured, oh the heck with it I'll just take the test now so I can pee and go back to sleep. See, Mama and Daddy had a date for a really nice Japanese restaurant that evening and we didn't want raw fish to be involved if you were hanging out in Mama's womb.
Anyway, Mama turned on the really bright light, peed on the stick, brushed her teeth for three minutes and, to her surprise, when she dared to look there were two pink lines instead of one. A positive test.
Mama swung open the door to the bedroom and called out in a loud whisper "I'M PREGNANT!" Daddy was up in a flash. There were hugs and a few tears and, eventually, happy slumber. There you are. Right there. Our wee little cytoplast.
Welcome to your existence.
Love,
Mama and Daddy
