Adlai and Family Visit the Cape (and New York!)

Adlai B. Kagle took his first trip to New York with his parents and brother on July 31 for Grandma Whee’s Birthday Extravaganza and Kagle Pow Wow. It was a long flight and he was not pleased to be confined within a three seat area. He found it amusing to scream at the top of his lungs as his parents tried frantically to keep him quiet without the use of suffocation. Near suffocation was also used to convince him to pass out in the hotel each night and allow his over tired brother and parents to get some rest. Despite the lack of sleep, Simon had a fabulous time enjoying the activities at Grandma Whee’s party. Adlai was quite shy of the people but enjoyed the clown and the fact that we let him have some ice cream.

There were also, of course, lots of Kagle boys to play with.

After a few days in New York, the Feefadders drove with us to Cape Cod where we finally figured out how to get some sleep (leave Adlai alone in a room, in a crib, for a while until he passes out and THEN go to sleep near him). We also had our usual great time enjoying the beach and the ice cream and the seafood and the family. This time the boys were also able to meet Daddy's Cousin, Sarah and her friend John.

Adlai developed this trick of methodically unwrapping all the straws in every restaurant and placing the unwrapped straws in water cups.

Also, Adlai learned to count to ten and then refused to perform for the video camera...

Even when filmed a second time...

After a week of vacation, we returned to Mountain View via the flight from hell. You know that nightmare where your kid is screaming and throwing things at strangers for hours? It was a lot like that.
